Individual employers set the selection criteria, but in general this will be:

Data Technicians are there to help businesses make smarter, more efficient decisions. They uncover and analyse data, picking it apart and drawing up a plan for the business to action the data in a way that breeds results. On top of that, they help to prevent expensive data errors that can lead to long (and costly) legal battles and remediation costs.

• Junior Information Analyst

The day-to-day will involve working under a senior colleague, who will take the apprentice under their wing and train them in every area of the role, including but not limited to:

• Sourcing, formatting and presenting data securely

• Communicating outcomes appropriate to the audience.

• Analysing structured and unstructured data to support business outcomes.

• Blending data from multiple sources as directed.

• Applying legal and ethical principles when manipulating data.

In their daily work, Data Technicians interact with a wide range of stakeholders including colleagues, managers, customers, and internal/external suppliers. They typically work as a member of a team, either office-based or virtual.
